Obituary of Michael John Donovan
It is with great sadness that the family of Michael J. Donovan announces his passing, which occurred peacefully on June 24, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 2, 1932, to the late Timothy Donovan and Joan Lannan of Enniskillen, New Brunswick. Michael was a loving husband of Thelma Donovan, who predeceased him in August, 2015, father, brother, and friend; he will be sadly missed by all.
After retirement as a mechanic, he enjoyed playing the fiddle, spending time with his wife, and visiting his family. He was a devoted Catholic and a long time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. His greatest joy and accomplishment in life was to see his eight children grow up and start families of their own.
Michael is survived by his children; Mike (Lori) Donovan, Paul (Karen) Donovan, Susan (Michael) Sargent, Carl (Susan) Donovan, Brian (Angela) Donovan, Timothy (Paula) Donovan, Robert (Karen) Donovan, and Lynn (Mike) Pierce; seventeen grandchildren, Jennie, Alexa, Amy, Lauren, Katie, Andrew, Matthew, Caleb, Allan, Holly, Joshua, Noah, Kobe, Karley, Carson, Jillian, and Jacob. He is also survived by his sisters, Joanie Mitchell, and Mary Tennant.
His brothers Pat and James predeceased him.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (849-2119) with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Interment to take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Building Fund, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Saint John SPCA .
