Dear Michelle, Joanne and Michael My condolences to you and your families as you mourn your mother’s passing and rejoice in her beautiful life and great love that she shared with you and our Lord. You were a tight “six” who were cherished in my formative years. Your Mum and Dad had a wonderful way of sharing, which emulated in all of you. Some of my best memories was camping in your back yard while our Dad’s worked by day and your Mum brought the evening to life when we were all together. One day, I remember “the kid crew” making numerous trips to the corner store to pick up last-minute ingredients for someone’s birthday cake, followed by a birthday card and most like decorations were in there somewhere too. Your Mum had the most wonderful smile, so warm and often playful. I loved the bonfires where your Dad pulled out his pipe and we begged him to lead “On Top of Ol’ Smokey”. I know there was so much more that formed the great person that your Mother was to her children, grandchildren, husband and beyond. I just want you to know that she (and your Dad) influenced my life in so many wonderful ways. I will hold her in my heart forever and pray that your sibling strength continues to guide you in love. My heart aches for the loss of such a dear dear friend, Our family has been part of the McMackin family for many yrs. I remember the card games with Ruth and Jim and the joy it gave us all. Ruth was an inspiration to all of us with her courageous outlook on life no matter where her daily journey took her. Tears flowed when i heard of her passing but I think of her and our chats and know she was faith filled and had no fear if or when life's journey ends. Your Mom and Dad left a strong impression on me. When I first met them, it was at the beginning of St. Mark's Church. As I was involved in the Music Ministry, I usually arrived an hour before mass, so was there when your parents entered the doors. We came to realize we had many things in common. We were married on the same date. My Sherry and her mike were born on same day and year. and Chris and my son in same month. We shared many trips to a jamboree ,concerts and enjoyed many community dinners together .So many good fond memories. Ruth allowed me to call her my sister that I never had. Will be greatly missed. We can all say we have been blessed to have been part of her life.
