Obituary of Marion Hattie Wisted

Marion Hattie Wisted, age 84, of Saint John, wife of the late Robert Wisted, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at her residence.

Born on July 10, 1934, in Blissfield, NB, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Walls) Morehouse. Marion was an RN for over 40 years, working at the General Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John Regional Hospital, and Carleton Kirk Nursing Home.

Survived by her children: Karen Pyle (Greg) of Florida, John (Tammy) of Saint John, Cathy Blok (Peter) of Cobden, ON, and Timothy (Erika) of Quispamsis, NB, and Mary Carlson-Bamford; sisters, Clara MacLean (Paul) of Harvey Station and Margie Downey (Orville) of Hillsborough, NB; grandchildren: Robert, Natasha (Brandon), Kristopher (Emilié), Shani (Kyle), Rebekah (Braylen), Peter, Joshua, Jacob (Nicole), Jared, Travis, Peter (Madelaine), Charlie (Katelyn), Jeremy, Dawn Marie, Andrew, Ashley, Rebecca (Matt), Kaitlyn (Dan), Shelby, Gregory, and great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Roralee, Zuri, Zander, Raylen, Leland, Asher, Danika, Daxton, and Gabriella, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Marion was predeceased by her son George, brother George Morehouse, grandsons Aaron and Garrett.

Marion was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She had many roles in life including the role of nurse which she fulfilled on and off the job.  Marion felt no greater joy than when she was involved in family gatherings.  She always had stories to share and reminisce about with all who were fortunate enough to gather round and listen. She taught her children how to love, how to forgive, how to battle through situations, and how to come out on top smiling.  She was a mother to more than just her own kids.  Anyone who ever entered her home or the home where she was staying were loved on like her own.  She kissed more injuries and boo boos than anyone could possibly count.  Her example of strength and sheer determination have been passed on to each of her children in their own way.  She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and looked forward to meeting them as soon as she could after they were born.  When she knew they were coming for a visit she was known to be busy making cookies (Orange chocolate chippers), Hello Dollies, and other favorite sweets.  Her gift of laughter over the years has been very contagious and she made sure her children knew how to laugh and laugh hard.  Marion shared her knowledge and love for the Lord with her children from the very start.  She strived to help each of them understand God’s love for them.  Although in the last couple of years she was not able to physically attend her home church she joyfully continued to be involved in the prayer chain ministry.

Marion’s family would like to invite you to share in the celebration of her life by welcoming you to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) where visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.  Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 15 at True Life Church, 30 Vincent Road, Quispamsis, at 11:00 AM. Private family interment to take place at Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or to the Gideons International.
